Indian Journal of Commerce and Management (IJCM) has developed and implemented a strict plagiarism policy to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. IJCM is an international double-blind peer-reviewed scholarly journal that upholds academic honesty and professional etiquette in all forms of research publication.
In this context, plagiarism refers to the unethical act of using another individual’s ideas, results, or written work without giving due credit to the original source. It also includes self-plagiarism, where an author reuses substantial parts of their own previously published work without appropriate citation or acknowledgment. IJCM considers plagiarism in any form as a serious violation of publication ethics and academic conduct.
Policy Guidelines
1. Originality Requirement:
Authors must ensure that the manuscripts submitted to IJCM are entirely original works. Any use of previously published content, data, or ideas must be properly cited and referenced. Manuscripts containing copied or paraphrased material without appropriate acknowledgment will not be accepted.
2. Plagiarism Detection:
All manuscripts submitted to IJCM are checked using advanced plagiarism detection software to identify any overlap or similarity with previously published works. The editorial team examines similarity reports carefully to determine the authenticity and originality of submissions.
3. Acceptable Similarity Threshold:
IJCM follows international standards for similarity index evaluation. The acceptable overall similarity level, including references, should not exceed 15%, and excluding references, should not be more than 5%. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be returned to authors for revision or rejected depending on the extent of similarity.
4. Consequences of Plagiarism:
- Minor Plagiarism: If small portions of text are found to be paraphrased without citation, the authors will be warned and asked to revise the manuscript with proper references.
- Intermediate Plagiarism: If significant portions of text, data, or statements are reproduced without acknowledgment, the manuscript will be rejected immediately.
- Severe Plagiarism: If large sections, including data, methodology, or original concepts, are copied without proper referencing, the manuscript will be rejected, and the author(s) may be permanently barred from future submissions to IJCM.
5. Post-Publication Measures:
If plagiarism is detected after publication, IJCM will conduct a detailed investigation. Based on the findings, the journal may retract the published paper, issue correction or retraction notices, and notify the authors’ affiliated institutions or funding agencies. All such actions will be carried out in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
6. Author Responsibilities:
Authors submitting manuscripts to IJCM must confirm that their work is original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere. They must also ensure that all sources, quotations, and third-party materials are properly cited and that permission has been obtained wherever necessary.
Indian Journal of Commerce and Management (IJCM) is deeply committed to upholding research ethics, promoting transparency in academic communication, and preserving the credibility of the scholarly record. The journal encourages all contributors to maintain the highest level of academic honesty and originality in their submissions.
